The different configurations are detailed separately, and are

National Configuration

Not all marshal posts are necessarily in use. As a minimum, each post should be visible to the marshals at the next post, in both directions. For example Post 6 can see posts 4 and 7.

The green flag lap is a sighting lap and one of its intended uses is for the driver to learn the position of all manned posts.

Marshal Posts for the National configuration are detailed next.

Marshal Post 1: Wheatcroft Straight
On the right, shortly after the start/finish line, opposite the end of the concrete pit wall.

Marshal Post 2: Redgate In
At the very end of the straight, on the left. As the track starts to turn, there is an access road. This is where the post is located.

Marshal Post 4: Redgate Out
Depending on the driver’s line, the marshal post should be seen ahead when at the corner’s apex. Whilst it is across a wide expanse of gravel, I saw two cars crash here in one session.

Marshal Post 6: Hollywood
Located just after Redgate’s vast area of gravel, opposite the start of Hollywood’s apex kerb. At the time of writing, it was underneath the end of three billboards (I trust they are for the spectators, not the drivers?).

Marshal Post 7: Craner Curves In
After Marshal Post 6’s apex kerb, the bend continues right into Craner’s first apex kerb. Halfway between the end of this and the start of the left-side kerb is located Marshal Post 7. It will be best-sighted from Hollywood’s apex.

Marshal Post 8: Craner Curves
The driver needs to look to the right, otherwise the post will not be in the eyeline. At the bottom of the hill, where the circuit curves to the left, there is an access road that goes back at an angle. At the end of this is the post.

Marshal Post 9: Old Hairpin
If you lock up before turning and go almost straight on, you’ll be hoping to come to a stop before hitting this post. On approach, it can be seen slightly to the right, across the gravel trap.

Marshal Post 11: Starkeys Bridge
Heading towards Starkeys Bridge, the post can be seen directly ahead, across the gravel trap, on the infield.

Marshal Post 12: Schwantz Curve
A little further than the gravel trap. Posts 11 and 12 are approximately equidistant from the end of the gravel trap.

Marshal Post 14: McLeans
This is at the far-left corner of the gravel trap, so the driver will have to look slightly to the left to see it clearly.

Marshal Post 15: McLeans - Coppice
About halfway along, there is an access road to the right, opposite which is the start of an entry kerb. Before these, just after the end of the gravel trap, is the post. It can also be seen by the tyre wall facing becoming white and blue at the post.

Marshal Post 17: Coppice In
Approaching Coppice, this post can be seen directly ahead, by an orange section of tyre wall. It is raised into the air.

Marshal Post 19: Coppice
On the outside, just before the turn ends and the exit kerb begins.

Marshal Post 20 Coppice Exit
Located just after where the gravel trap and exit kerb ends.

Marshal Post 21: Coppice - Roberts
According to my notes, there was only one post along this straight, this one. Having already spotted and photographed Marshal Post 20 and being rushed, due to being instructed to be off the circuit by 8:00am, I cycled at full speed right past this post. Oh well.

It’s ironic that this post is so easy to spot, with it being by the start of the of a rather large building’s perimeter. It is just after the point where the armco closes into the track.

Marshal Posts 23 and 38: Roberts In
Post 38 is easy to spot as it is straight ahead.

Post 23 is located on the first apex of Roberts Chicane and is seen on approach, to the right.

Marshal Post 39: Roberts Out
Located on the right, at the exit of Goddards - the last corner of the Grand Prix configuration. It is opposite to, and just before, the pit entry.

Oh well.

Marshal Posts 23 and 38: Roberts In
Post 38 is easy to spot as it is straight ahead. It is primarily used for drivers approaching the final corner, Goddards, but can also supplement Post 23.

Post 23 is located on the first apex of Roberts Chicane and is seen on approach, to the right.

Marshal Post 25: Fogarty Esses Out
Located on the left, at the exit of Fogarty Esses. When looking through both apexes, it is across the gravel trap, to the left.

Marshal Post 26: Centre of Loop
Located on the right, at the Centre of the Loop.

It is shortly after the end of the exit kerbing and gravel trap, on the left. Jus before it is a tarmac access.

Marshal Post 27: Melbourne In
Situated on the left, about halfway down the entry kerb.

Marshal Post 29: Melbourne Out
On the right-side exit of the hairpin, it can be seen early by looking right across the apex on turn-in.

Marshal Post 37: Old Pit Entry
This area is also used as the Assembly Area for the International configuration. The post is on the left, just prior to the pit lane entry that is no longer used.

Marshal Post 38: Goddards In
Ahead, over the brow, there is an access road that leads directly into a tyre wall. To the right of this is Marshal Post 38.

Marshal Post 39: Roberts Out
Located on the right, at the exit of Goddards, it is opposite to, and just before, the pit entry.
