With most people having satnav, there’s little to be gained from various detailed directions. It is the final few miles where a little advice can be an aid to confidence.
From Most Areas: Via the West: A11
Most non-local journeys will culminate in using the eastbound A11. Should you miss the turn off, then you can use the From the East: A11 instructions.
- Take the exit from the A11, signposted Industrial areas and Snetterton circuit. If you miss the exit, take the next exit for Eccles train station. At the end of the slip road, turn left. Pass under the bridge (A11) and take the next left, the opposite the junction, being easily missed. Then stay left as you rejoin the A11.
- At the first roundabout, take the second exit, signposted Snetterton.
- At the next roundabout, take the second exit, signposted Circuit and Market.
- Having crossed the A11, at the next roundabout, take the first exit, signposted Circuit.
From the East: A11
This route can also be taken if having missed the turn off and turned around.
- Take the exit from the A11, signposted Industrial areas and Snetterton circuit.
- At
the first roundabout, take the first exit, signposted Snetterton. - At
the next roundabout, take the second exit, signposted Circuit. - The
circuit entrance can be seen ahead, on the right. - On
entering the circuit facilities, bear left and head straight on, until you
reach the pay booths. - Having
passed the pay booths, bear right and then left. Drive over a bridge that
crosses the circuit. At the end of the road, turn right. - Drive
straight on; the paddock is ahead.
From the Near-South
A satnav is likely to direct via the A1066 or B111. I don’t think either are suitable, as narrow lanes are involved as you approach within a few miles of the circuit. Instead, I recommend the A14 up to Bury St. Edmunds, then onto the A134, picking up the A11 at Thetford. While this route adds several miles to the journey, it can take only a few minutes more. That probably equates to less braking and low-speed driving, resulting in a more efficient, economical and relaxing journey.
Entrance to Pay Booths
1. Enter the circuit facilities. 2. After a short straight, bear left. To the right is the most direct exit onto the A11. | |
3. Head straight on, until you reach the pay booths. |
Leaving the Circuit – To the A11 East or West
Before continuing to parking or the paddock, let us be aware of the most efficient way out, which can be used instead of returning to the entrance.
On passing the pay booths for the exit, instead of turning right for the exit, turn left. You will then bear left around an industrial unit, exiting at a roundabout. Take the first exit, onto the A11 West.
Note the signposts are for A11 South (London and Cambridge) and North (Norwich). I consider East and West more correct and so have used that.
