With most people having satnav, there’s little to be gained from various detailed directions. It is the final few miles where a little advice can be an aid to confidence. In the case of Cadwell Park, that advice can also include the avoidance of roads unsuitable to towing vehicles, as in the red-marked roads in the above map.

Cadwell Park is located to the east of Sheffield, south of Hull and roughly northeast of both Nottingham and Lincoln. It is less than six miles to the southwest of Louth.

This is a zoomed-in map for the final part of the provided directions from the north, west or southwest.

North or West

The route to Cadwell park from anywhere in the north or west is via Junction 5 of the M180. To the west of York will involve the M180 itself; otherwise take the A15 across the River Humber, crossing the M180 onto the A18. From here, Cadwell Park is 30 miles away around 45 minutes without delays.

Passing by the north of Humberside Airport, continue skirting the airport by turning right, signposted Grasby/Caistor. Stay on this road for 17.7 miles.

At the crossroads, turn left into the A157.

Stay on this road for 3.4 miles, around five minutes.

Take the right-turn, signposted as Cadwell Park (and Donington, Hallington).

The next junction is a crossroads, 4.6 miles and around seven minutes away. Take care, as it does not have a signpost to the circuit. Turn left, onto the A153 towards Louth.

The circuit entrance is just 0.7 miles away, on the right.

Southwest

From the southwest, the A158 will be taken from Lincoln.

In Wagby, at the mini roundabout, bear left, joining the A157. This is signposted for Cadwell Park.

A satnav may advise staying on the A158. That will take the driver along the route shown as a blue line in the above map, which is a little narrow and would potentially cause issues when towing.

Stay on the A157 for 9.7 miles, around 17 minutes.

Take the right-turn, signposted as Cadwell Park (and Donington, Hallington).

The next junction is a crossroads, 4.6 miles and around seven minutes away. Take care, as it does not have a signpost to the circuit. Turn left, onto the A153 towards Louth.

The circuit entrance is just 0.7 miles away, on the right

South

From the South the route could be via Lincoln, as above, or west of Boston, the A52 which leads into the A153. The directions here are provided via the A153.

There are other local routes with a different route but, being local, will be less likely to need this advice; providing it here is likely to introduce confusion.

On entering Horncastle, stay on the A153.

On crossing the A158, stay on the A153 throughout.

After 8 miles, 11 minutes without traffic, the entrance to Cadwell Park is on the right.

Entrance, to the Paddock

On arrival, turn right into the entrance. Head through the pay booths, then stay on the main path by bearing left. Again, stay on the main path by turning off to the right, into the paddock area.

8.
Paddock and parking are to the left and right, with further paddocks straight on. All facilities are at the far end.

SatNav

Entering the post code into my satnav usually gets me there, but not always, so I also include GPS coordinates. What3Words are also an increasingly useful addition. I try to find a w3w location with at least one word that is related to motor racing; I also try to find short words.

I have also provided coordinates and What3Words for a position within the paddock. This could be useful as a meeting point for guests.

Coordinates

Coordinates are given in the three formats:

  • DMS: Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds
  • DD: Decimal degrees
  • What3Words
