With most people having satnav, there’s little to be gained from various detailed directions. It is the final few miles, or even less, where a little advice can be an aid to confidence. In the case of Croft, that advice includes, at the time of writing, avoiding the satnav’s habit of getting you nearby, but not close enough.

Cadwell Park is located to the south of Darlington and west of Middlesborough. The most likely access is via the A1(M) or A19.

This is a zoomed-in map, with the roads marked in red indicated the most common routes.

There are not too many ways to arrive at Croft, as can be seen from the red-marked routes in the map, above. Basically, you will either:

  • Approach via the A167, north. Then turn right (south) into West Lane, then turn right, signposted for Croft Circuit.
  • Approach via the A167, south. Then turn left (south) into West Lane, then turn right, signposted for Croft Circuit.
  • From the South West, via the B1263, continue north into West Lane, then turn left, signposted for Croft Circuit.

Common Sat Nav Failure

If you are using your sat nav, there is a likelihood that you will be taken to the wrong place, finishing alongside a farmhouse in West Lane. Fear not, for you are very close. If you are currently heading south, from the A167, then turn around. Drive straight on and the next left will be signposted for Croft Circuit.

SatNav

Entering the post code into my satnav usually gets me there, but not always (as in Croft), so I also include GPS coordinates. What3Words are also an increasingly useful addition. I try to find a w3w location with at least one word that is related to motor racing or cars in general; failing that, I search for humorous or short words.

I have also provided coordinates and What3Words for a position within the paddock. This could be useful as a meeting point for guests.

Coordinates

Coordinates are given in the three formats:

  • DMS: Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds
  • DD: Decimal degrees
  • What3Words
