With most people having satnav, there’s little to be gained from various detailed directions. It is the final few miles where a little advise can be an aid to confidence.

There are two main routes to Brands Hatch, both starting on the A20. The first, from the north, is at the A20 / M25 Junction 3 / M20 Junction 1 Interchange. The other, from the south, starting from Junction 3 M26.

Important Notes for Competitors
Use of the entrances can get confusing, as Scratchers Lane and the hotel entrances either can or cannot be used depending on the day. A basic assumption is that, if there are likely to be spectators, the hotel entrance is out of bounds and Scratchers Lane is to be used.

Scratchers Lane
The paddock entrance, via Scratchers Lane, should be used on race weekends but not the test day before, as it will then be unlikely to be open. Instead, use the main entrance via the hotel. A general rule is Weekends Only.

Hotel Entrance
During the race weekend itself where spectators are to be protected, this entrance is likely to see entrants turned away. Instead, use the entrance via Scratchers Lane. A general rule is Weekdays Only.

SatNav

Entering a post code into my satnav usually gets me there, but not always, so I also include GPS coordinates with this guide. What3Words are also an increasingly useful addition. I also provide coordinates and What3Words for a position within the paddock; this could be useful as a meeting point for guests.

I try to find a w3w location with at least one word that is related to motor racing; I also try to find short words or a humorous sentence. From the paddock coordinates, can you work out how the 1994 F1 champion despatched his rival?
